The Mobile Bar Foundation is the charitable arm of the Mobile Bar Association. A Section 501(c)(3) organization which is exempt from payment of income taxes, the Foundation was established in 1994 with the stated purpose of "accumulating sufficient funds to be used for the betterment and good of our community." Its mission is to support programs that improve the legal system, the administration of justice and otherwise promote the betterment of the legal profession and local community.

The primary sources of funds for the Foundation are the annual membership donations paid by members of the Mobile Bar Association. Various membership levels are available according to the amounts donated. Other sources of funds include various fundraisers and contributions from supporting individuals and organizations.

Each year a portion of the funds raised by the Foundation is distributed to qualified organizations in the community. See our list of recipients here.

The Mobile Bar Foundation is pleased to share that in 2016, the Foundation made the following financial grants:

Big Brother ~ Big Sisters Program

Boys & Girls Club of South Alabama

Child Advocacy Center

Legal Services of Alabama

Mobile United

South Alabama Volunteer Lawyers Program

South Alabama Regional Planning Commission (Volunteer Guardian Program)

Dauphin Island Police Department

Dauphin Island Volunteer Fire Department

These contributions will directly impact the lives of thousands of people located in Mobile County, children in need or at risk, incapacitated adults in need or at risk, children, youth, and adults in need of legal services and unable to afford the same.

The success achieved at the Triathlon enabled many of these financial grants. The Foundation expresses its sincere thanks to all of the Triathlon’s sponsors and the triathletes who participated in the 2016 inaugural event.
